Companies set up FitKit in one of two ways, plus a split between them. The difference is who pays, and it changes what you commit to and what your employees get.
Standard: the company funds the allowance
You set a monthly allowance per employee, either in credits or as a subscription tier. Employees use it at no cost to themselves. FitKit invoices your company monthly.
Choose this when the benefit is part of your compensation package, when you need participation data you can report on, and when HR owns a budget line for wellness.
Zero Budget: employees fund it at a negotiated rate
The company commits no budget at all. Instead your employees get access at a rate negotiated for your company, below the public price. They pay with their own card through a company specific store inside the app.
Choose this when there is no budget line this year, when you want evidence of demand before requesting one, or when you want to cover a group the funded benefit does not reach, such as contractors or a second location.
Subsidised: a split between the two
You can also share the cost, for example 50:50 or any other ratio. Employees choose their own package within the budget you set and pay their part at purchase. The company settles its share at the end of the calendar month, once actual usage is recorded.
Choose this when you want to extend a limited budget across more employees, or when you want employees to have some skin in the game to raise commitment.
Comparing the three
| Who pays | Standard: company | Zero Budget: employee | Subsidised: both |
| Company budget needed | Yes | No | Partial |
| Employee cost | None | Discounted rate | Their share only |
| Usage reporting | Full | Full | Full |
| Invoiced to company | Monthly | Nothing | Monthly, share only |
All three give you the same visibility in the company portal: who is registered, how many visits were completed, which categories and locations are most used.
How to choose
If you have a budget and want reportable participation, start with Standard. If you have no budget and want proof before asking for one, start with Zero Budget and revisit in three months with real usage numbers in hand. Subsidised works well as a second step, once you know which employees actually use the benefit.
You can also run two models at once, for example a funded allowance for full time staff and Zero Budget access for everyone else.
Not sure which fits your company? Contact FitKit and we will model both before any commitment.
